'Miracles'
Later that evening Sister Encarnación and Father Tomasino reflected on the days events, the large crop of corn, and their new acquaintance
Jeremy Creek.

Sister Encarnación told Father Tomasino, "It is a miracle, father".

Father Tomasino pensively said, "Miracles? Sister we are surrounded by miracles. We have a farm boy from
Kansas who picks our corn when we are ill, a bartender who travels here in the dead of night to bring the children food, and a little boy who dreams of angels."

Sister Encarnación replied, "Yes, father. But Jeremiah...what he did was amazing."

Father Tomasino pensively replied, "Yes...amazing."

Father Tomasino continued saying, "When I first came here forty years ago, and I was welcomed by Father Diaz, he said to me 'when an old preacher like me passes on, someone always steps forward to take his place.' I didn't think much of it at the time, but now, with Jeremiah, I'm starting to believe."

Sister Encarnación sighed, put her hand on his shoulder and said, "Please, father, do not speak of such things."
