Memorial
A year had passed since Jordan Cross joined the Green Lantern Corps. Since then he had been traveling through time and space fighting a galactic battle against the Zamarons.

One week after
Clark sent a message to Jordan, Clark received a message back from the corps. The corps had lost contact with Jordan's battalion. The battalion was chasing a horde of Zamarons though a time portal, one that lead to earth--an earth thirty years in the future.

The corps later intercepted Zamaron communications hinting of a legion of enemies waiting for them on the other side of the portal, a great weapon that would finally give the Zamarons their victory, and an evil genius who would lead the Zamarons into a new era.

After the death of Kevin Grady,
Clark Kent became the temporary leader of the Justice League. The only other council member at the time was Bart Allen.

Clark and Bart decided to make it known to the mayor of Metropolis that
Jordan was missing. They also decided to inform the mayor that Chloe Sullivan and Kyle Tippet were also missing. In reality, Kyle and Chloe were in stasis and in the care of Jor-El at the fortress.

The mayor decided to hold a memorial in honor of Jordan, Chloe and Kyle. The Daily Planet building was lit up with the color green as a tribute to Jordan Cross, a Green Lantern. Two other buildings were lit with the color blue to represent Kyle and Chloe, members of the Justice League.

Justice League intelligence observed that the chatter among Luthorcorp associates increased greatly after the announcement of the missing league members. The Justice League went on high alert. Only a few league members were able to visit the memorial.

As Arthur Curry,
Clark Kent and Helena Bertinelli (Huntress) watched from a distance Clark was surprised as the aunt of his old friend Ryan James walked up to a podium to speak. She told the crowd, "These are the words of my nephew Ryan, who is no longer with us. Ryan was a friend of Chloe. He left these words for me to read in case anything ever happened to her."

She read Ryan's note, which said:
“The holy grail 'neath ancient Roslin waits. The blade and chalice guarding o’er her gates. Adorned in master’s loving art, she lies. She rests at last beneath the starry skies.”
