Warning

"You must be extremely careful when selecting a liquid multivitamin, as

·          Many times you are getting only 20 or 30 ingredients at barely the required doses. We know that we need 100+ nutrients to ensure our daily well-being and health, so why just get 20 or 30?

·           It gets worse. Some products may contain Iron, which you can fatally overdose on or contain animal by products, which are a concern if you are vegetarian."

"Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6."

Absorption

"Liquids, aside from offering the obvious benefit of being easy to swallow, have another very important trait. According to the Physicians Desk Reference,

·          Liquid is absorbed at a 98% rate, versus

·          Only 10 – 20% in hard capsules or tablet forms.

This very important distinction is extraordinarily important. It is not uncommon to have [hard] capsules pass right through the body in a way that the product name is still visible after the pill has left the body completely. This does not happen with liquids, as they are absorbed completely and are not wasted."

"The National Advisory Board states that

·          '100 mg consumed in tablet form translates to a minute stabilized 8.3 mg or 8.3% concentrated in the blood.'

This is simply not the case with liquids!"

·          "Pills and capsules may cost less, but in reality you get far less absorption for your money. No wonder they cost less!

·          Liquids are fast--you do not even have to wait for them to dissolve. They start working as soon as you swallow and

·          Many have very pleasant flavors."

"Stores like to stock pills because they have a long shelf life (although liquid multivitamins are stable for years), are easier to handle and can sometimes cost a little less because they have cheap fillers and binding agents. People are used to drugs being in pill form, so it makes sense to them. Unfortunately, things like vitamins and minerals are not lab-created artificial chemicals or drugs that are easily bound with fillers and buffers. No wonder they can be so hard to absorb!"

Finding Quality Liquid Multivitamins

"The sad truth is that most liquid multivitamins…are simply not up to par.

·          Many contain substandard levels of vitamins and minerals, and

·          Most are devoid of any kinds of

  • fruit and vegetable extracts,
  • omega 3 fatty acids,
  • CoQ10,
  • plant enzymes,
  • trace minerals,
  • antioxidant blends, or
  • herbal complexes."

"It is disappointing to see that many of the 'name brand' liquid vitamins

·          Simply have lower amounts of some of the important ingredients and

·          Lack many of the critical

  • whole food extracts,
  • plant enzymes and
  • fruit and vegetable extracts."

"Aside from Hi-Potency Complete, they were disappointing [see chart]. Many of the major manufacturers should take a hard look at their formulas and consider beefing up the ingredients where they are falling short. In particular, most formulas should provide you wholesome nutrition, not just the basic vitamins and minerals. There is additional room for improvement and we suggest that manufactures consider providing whole body nutrition rather than just the basic vitamins and minerals."

"Why did we choose Hi-Potency Complete as our 'Gold Standard' for testing? Quite simply because of all of the liquid multivitamins that we have tested, Hi-Potency Complete rises head and shoulders above the rest. Their unique approach to whole body nutrition rather than simply providing the basic vitamins and minerals is a true first. Hi-Potency Complete gets a 5 star rating from the Vitamins and Nutrition Center for its quality, ingredients, taste, and price."
